If it is used for bovine livestock, a single wire is enough. Two or three electric wires can be used for breeding. For ovine or porcine livestock a 5-hook post should be used, and the number of wires to be used will depend on the user´s criteria.
The wire, often 17/15 or Boyero, should be galvanized, as rust is insulating and it is not a good conductor. It is switched to an electrifier which supplies electricity intermittently. The system should not carry high tension, and hard well-seasoned wood should be used.
